Hi! My name is Zach, and I'm the founder of hi finance! After graduating with my finance degree, I started my career in high finance, where I managed investments for high-net-worth clients and even built tools that are still being used by hundreds of financial planners today. I learned a lot during that time and was honoured to receive a Top Talent Award as one of the bank's best new hires.
But as much as I enjoyed the work, I couldn't shake the feeling that good financial advice was only reaching the ultra-wealthy. That's what pushed me to start hi finance - to help students with their money. Since then, we've been able to help thousands of students earn hundreds of thousands in grant funding, save smarter, and feel more confident about their money.
When I'm not working, you can usually find me rock climbing, volunteering with the Campus Food Bank, or hanging out with my puppy (who, in my completely unbiased opinion, is the cutest dog in the world).

I spend a lot of time on campus connecting with students and hearing about what they actually need. Here’s some of what we’ve done.
Guest lectures
I love joining classes and workshops to talk about money and what it’s like building a startup. Students get honest advice from someone who was in their shoes not that long ago.
We co-host career fairs, case competitions, and speaker series with student clubs. It’s how we meet students where they are and bring real financial help to more people.
The best part is just being on campus with students. Orientation talks, tabling booths, and the conversations that happen in between. Students stop by with questions about money, and we sit down and help them figure out what they qualify for. No jargon, no pressure. Just real answers.
